Life in our properties

At our properties, we have people from various walks in life. Often, residents will join us having reached a life changing milestone, such as bereavement, separation, moving back to the area, or needing accommodation which requires more support.

At Podsbrook House and Noel Pelly House, our residents have the opportunity to embrace a new community, find new friends, develop new relationships, and be part of Witham society in general.

Within our residences, we have a number of social and keep fit activities, and outside there is much to do in Witham and surrounding areas, various sporting and social clubs, a great swimming pool and leisure centre, lots of restaurants, and places to explore, by foot, bicycle or mobility scooter.

The River Walk in Witham is a great example of this.

Transport links to London or East Anglia are excellent, with great rail and bus services, and, for further afield, Stansted airport is less than 25 miles away.

Mark's Story

Mark found himself in difficult circumstances and needed to be housed urgently, and the council couldn’t help.  As we had a vacancy Mark moved into Podsbrook House in March 2023.  Mark has lived in Witham most of his life and wanted to be near his family.  Mark feels secure living in Sheltered Accommodation as his flat is equipped with a Care Line and we also have a Welfare Officer who works Monday – Friday to check on the Resident’s wellbeing.

ColinMark was in the Army from 1984-1991 he was in the Royal Anglian Regiment – 3rd Battalion.  Mark attended the National Service of Remembrance on 12th November 2023, he joined the thousands of veterans that marched past the cenotaph, a very proud moment for him.

Mark was a Taxi Driver before he became ill with a Benign Brain Tumour which affected his sight and meant he had to give up his driving job.

Mark enjoys the social activities organised by himself and the other residents.  He helped organise a regular Games Night which is held twice a month.  We also have a Bingo afternoon once a week and some residents meet up for a daily cuppa in our resident’s lounge.  They also enjoy Friday Fish and Chips and other social events throughout the year.
